About me Singapore 🇸🇬 Repairs & mods by hand

About Me

Retro Revive Labs is a one-person workshop in Singapore. Since 2024 I've refurbished, modded and repaired 200+ Game Boys by hand, from IPS screens and USB-C charging to full custom shells, and every console is tested before it ships. Buyers on Carousell rate the work 5.0 across 161 reviews.

It all started from the desire to repair my childhood GBA SP that was gifted to me by my grandmother. My childhood was dominated by handheld consoles like the Gameboy Advance SP and Playstation Portable. Wanting to make the repair meaningful, I decided to fix it up myself. Through countless hours of trial and error and self-learning i eventually managed to, and realised that many others out there wanted to reconnect with retro gaming as well. Since then, i invested in good quality soldering and honing these soldering skills, making sure i use the best equipment and techniques to ensure that my customers' Gameboys were properly worked on.

As i was servicing these Gameboys, my hobby in retro gaming as a whole grew deeper. My childhood console was the Nintendo Wii, and thus i sought out to reconnect with older consoles. During my time in University, i played New Super Mario Bros Wii U Deluxe on the Nintendo Switch and thoroughly enjoyed it, and wanted to have an authentic experience playing with retro consoles (particularly the retro mario titles)

This led me to collect a Sony PVM CRT, AV Famicom, Super Famicom, Nintendo 64, Nintendo Wii and Nintendo Wii U. For handhelds i colllected a Dual IPS New 3Ds and also a DS Lite. This retro console hunting developed into one of my favourite activities ever: Visiting book off/hard off stores in Japan.

A very excited me who just recovered from a terrible flu, at a hard off store a few stops away from Hakata station where i got my Nintendo Wii U, taken on my 3ds 😀

I'm always happy to connect with people passionate about retro gaming (and Nintendo in general), and will gladly welcome a chat about such topics! If you have a broken Gameboy or would like to get one Ready Made or Customised, don't hesitate to reach out.
